Wreck Beach, the most famous beach of Zakynthos, is a creature of nature and a marine accident in fictional circumstances. The quirk of nature is the earthquake west coast of the island and the deep waters of the Ionian Sea in the carving for centuries. Marine casualty is the wreck of the merchant ship Panagiotis, who in 1982 with illegal cargo boxes of untaxed cigarettes, ran aground on this beach. This unique combination of untouched by human hand beach with the rusty hull created in the middle of the most photographed subject in Zakynthos.
Shipwreck on the beach will go only by boat. Boats make the journey from almost every point of the island. If you just want a pass for a swim suit better to do day trips around the island and only make a stop at the Shipwreck and will give you the chance to see other parts of the island that can not be accessed by road.
For those who want to enjoy the beach with the shipwreck from above, they must get to the Monastery of St. George of Gremna. Just below the monastery there is an iron stand hanging in space, from where you can admire in awe at the beautiful beach with the shipwreck and surrounding coastal cliffs.
